This outstanding farmhouse is situated in a typical village of Catalonia, Spain.
The Barcelona -based studio Arquitectura-G started the project in 2013 and finished the restoration in 2015 and the outcome has to show countless rooms- living rooms, lounges, dining rooms with large windows and pivot doors.
The historic stone walls of the exterior give a bright interior that is altogether sculptural, textural and wonderfully communal. The stone matched harmoniously with the wooden beams and the use of metal on windows and doors which they are all painted in bourgundy color to match the floor and the new glazed brown tiles.
The glazed blown tiles are repeated at the residence many times to create cohesion. Each cabin is designed as an autonomous part and has its own furniture constructed with the same ceramic piece 13 × 13. The white painted walls and ceilings brighten the space and provide a neutral background to these other materials. In addition, an elegant spiral staircase, decorates the space along with 3 fireplaces in different rooms.
The architectural studio, renovated uniquely the farmhouse, preserving its essence and transformin its habitability, in a building where past meets the present. The current project was a finalist to the Tiles of Spain Ascer 2015 awards.
